To This Day Project....
Student's, you've heard me state many times that I have just one rule:  No bullying.  Of course, there are more rules, but there is a reason I isolate this one rule the way I do....Because it's the most important, and 2nd isn't close. Isolating 'No Bullying' as the ONLY rule, gives it power.

The 'To This Day' Project, was created to raise money (in which they can equip schools with resources) and awareness of bullying.

Below is a video of an animated spoken-voice poem that is connected with this project.  The poem is extremely powerful and already has 4 million youtube hits.  I thought I would share:

Where's Waldo?......
Look for the red-and-white striped man in the crowd at this game.

Where's Sammo?.....
Look for Sammo in the crowd at the Michigan State/Ohio State game yesterday.

New Resiliency....

Assessments and Extra Credit....
Just so everyone understands..

For my classes I consider it a success if we hit these benchmarks:
(Mean + Median) /2 : 80%
% of Students with a C or Higher:  70%

For Math II, I use slightly different benchmarks:
(Mean + Median) /2:  85%
% of Students with a C or Higher:  75%

Generally, and definitely not always, if we don't hit those benchmarks I'll give out extra-credit to help boost scores.

Which leads me to this:

For the Investigation II Quiz, Math I got:
(71 + 77) /2 : 74%  (- 6%
% of Students with a C or Higher:  64%   (- 6%)

For the BP2 Unit Test Math II got:
(79 +  81) /2 : 80%   (- 5%)
% of Students with a C or Higher:   74%   (-6%)

As you can see, we were a bit off with both assessments.  Therefore, I will have an extra-credit assignment for those who want it.  You will find out what it is tomorrow.

My Weekend.....
Friday, since we had a snow day, I took Tristan and Brooklyn to a movie.

Saturday, Tristan had 2 basketball games, then for the first time in I-don't-know-how-long, my wife and I had a day off from kids.  Grandma and Grandpa watched all 3, and I'm sure they are still recovering.  :)

Sunday, the kids went to a birthday party of a friend, then Tristan and I went to the OSU/MSU bball game where we saw Sam and his dad.  :)

At the last game they passed out trophies.

Our team.  Tristan (black shoes green laces) scored 10 of our 20 points and  almost outscored the whole other team combined (they had 12).

Brooklyn playing chef at the birthday party.

I had no good pictures of Cooper from the weekend...So, here is one from a few weeks ago at the mall. :)

In Class Today....

Science:
We reviewed and then took the Lesson 1:  Robotics quiz.  Then we discussed and took notes about the applications of robotics.  We then watched a video on nanoscience.

Writing:
We got together in partners and read our stories to each other.  Author's gave their own self-editing marks, and then there partners gave them their own peer-editing marks.  We also went over the calendar of when things are due.  We started working on our illustrations.

Math I:
None.  We spent the whole time on Writing, something I had planned on Friday to do, but obviosuly couldn't.  I need to make sure that none of this project falls during the same time as Invention Convention/Fed Ex/Technology test or they will get overwhelmed.

Math II:
We went over the last resiliency and got a new one.  We finished our lesson on Extended Response questions.

100-point Clue....

Clue: Albert Stallion
