Resiliency...........
Week after week, Mrs. Miller and I give out the resiliency question on Monday and then go over the answer in class on Friday. As a whole, I would say that participation and effort is rather inconsistent, and seems to be proportionate with the difficulty of the problem.
Well, this week's problem was a tough one. In fact, only one student (Aaron) and one teacher (Mrs. Miller) were able to solve it. I even got the question wrong.
I made a half-hearted attempt at solving it during lunch. I tried one way, it didn't work, so I gave up.In the back of my mind I knew Mrs. Miller would have the answer and save the day. As shameful and ironic as it is to say-- I wasn't being resilient. Still for me to miss the answer, I knew it was a tough question with a lot of leg work.
So, I wasn't really expecting but maybe a handful of students to have really given it a go.
As Mrs. Miller showed them how to get the correct answer I circulated to see how students did. I was absolutely thrilled by what I saw. I saw consensus effort on a resiliency question, and it was an excellent effort at that. The students threw themselves into the problem with nothing to gain but personal satisfaction, as there is no grade for it.
Great job, kids. Now, if you could just give me some pointers about being resilient...
Examples of student's hard work at trying to solve it.

Wait a minute!! That's a picture of a bass I caught last night. My friends and I have a Thursday night fishing club. It's not a very big bass, but its the first of the year, so i'll take it!!
