Extra Credit for Math II...
Because our quiz scores were low, I'm offering every student in Math II a chance to earn 5-extra credit points.  All they have to do is correctly complete an equivalent ratios worksheet I passed out. If they need help they should see me in BCO.

Staircase Problem...
A few weeks ago (during COTA day) I had the opportunity to go to a presentation by Jonily Zupancic on creating rich tasks for students.  What I plan on doing is presenting a problem at the beginning of class every Monday, and then building on the problem each day after. It should only take the first 5 minutes of class. Today, I started with the Staircase Problem.

I started by putting this picture up and asking students to make-up questions that could go with this question.

After sharing a few questions, I then asked them to draw stage 1 -3, and then stages 4 and 5, on isometric dot paper.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they did.  Math II will do the same thing tomorrow.
