The Week in Pictures...
Caleb D and Joey were talking about teacher pets in class; so because we like to have fun from time to time, we decided to have a contest-- Who could be a bigger Teacher's Pet: Joey or Caleb? There were 2 rules; the teacher had to be Mrs. Culp and she couldn't catch on.
Who won? Joey hands down. :)

PBL Day: Cell Analogy Project
DNA Extraction Lab: Students grabbed samples of their cheek cells (using Gatorade) and put them in a test tube. Then we added liquid detergent which breaks apart lipids which is what the cell membrane and nuclear membrane are made of. Then we added enzymes which digest proteins, which is what DNA is tightly wound around. This unzips the dna and sends it floating around. Then we added cold isopropyl alcohol which allowed the DNA to precipitate into. End results: Clumps of DNA floating around in a window of rubbing alcohol.
