Scary drive coming to work this morning...
Driving on 270 this morning. I'm on a narrow stretch where cars going the opposite way are separated by a tiny median. Suddenly, I see a huge rock, I'd say a 4-5 inches across, pop off of a big dump truck and come hurling my way. Honestly, for the 1-second I had to react I thought I was going to get killed or seriously injured as it surely would have came through the windshield completely..
Somehow it missed me, and took off my driver-side mirror completely.
Student Video...
Here's a video that Ben and Josh put together of an air pressure rocket they put together. Very cool guys!!
Veronica and Kaitlyn win the challenge!!
It went in to double overtime, but the girls prevailed. Good game, both teams.
For their victory, Veronica and Kaitlyn recieved a 500-point card and were allowed to put the class in whatever seating assigment they wanted.
Scary Stories
During the month of October I like to read scary stories to the kids. Andrew P wanted me to mention on the blog, the fact that he is going to have a hard time sleeping in his room tonight, wondering if his dog is going to start singing to ghosts in the woods (only Math II students will get this reference)
Fed Ex Day Phase I
Really productive Fed Ex Day for one class, and an 'okay' Fed Ex Day for the other.
Science:Morgan did a better job than Science:Culp in terms of maintaining focus. Science:Culp had a hard time sticking with their group only, and were caught one-too-many times wandering around talking to others. We talked about it at the end of class and I feel confident that next week will be better.

Science:
Fed Ex Day!!
Writing:
Took wordstudy test, got the next Wordstudy words and packet.
Math I:
Took the Prime Time Investigation 3 retake. The students did wonderful!! I am VERY pleased with the results. To go from a 66% to an 86% is a big jump. We got after it the last 2 days, at times I felt like I was going to burn out a few brains-- but they survived.
Math II:
We took the Prime Time Investigation 4 quiz. I haven't graded these yet. I will have the results on Monday.

Geocache Challenge:
Here's something I did every Friday last year. I figured I might as well give this a whirl today.
Here is a great way to hone your Google Maps skills. I am hiding a small canister filled with 5 500-point cards somewhere in Grove City. The location is on the map below inside the red circle. You'll need to learn how to navigate google maps to find its location. Once found, ask your parents if they can go with you and search for it. If you find it, please take just one card, and make sure the lid is on tight. If you are the last person to get it, please bring the canister back to school with you.
The cannister looks like this:
Here is the location:
Good luck, and have a great weekend!!
