Science: Forces and Motion Vocabulary Quia Games...

Math I Investigation Review Game....

There is a quiz tomorrow, here is a 'Rags to Riches' game that goes with the review.

If you complete it you can get a 500-point card.

Physics Lab....

We did the 'Table Cloth Trick' in lab today, along with a few other physics tricks.

Denard Robinson and an example of balanced forces..

Since, we are studying forces and motion, I found Denard Robinson's (Michigan's Quarterback) 67-yard touchdown to be quite poignant.

Check it out...Denard is hit by two massive, opposing forces.  The two forces completely cancel each other out, for a net force of zero.

The result...Denard doesn't even stumble. Like two pool balls hitting another at the same time, he is unmoved.  The only thing it does is stop a bit of momentum. Incredible.

Make sure you forward to around the 1:10 mark so you can see it in slow motion.

Resiliency Question....

For the first time ever--- NOBODY had the right answer.  A few students came to me telling me about factorals and triangular numbers-- yet, even with such stunning grasp of high-level math they didn't get it.. So, I decided to dive deeper.

It's nice to have the big guns (math concepts), but can you really aimn that thing?

One more chance to get this booger.....We'll see who gets it tomorrow.

Fibonnacci...

I told the kids that Math to me is like driving to a vacation destination.  We got somewhere to go, and we need to be focused on getting there, but when something cool comes along, then we just got to get off on the exit and check it out.

Fibonacci came up in conversatiobn earlier in the day, and since no one was able to pull off the Resiliency, I thought it was a prime opportunity to hop off the curriculum highway and check out the 'Prehistoric Village' on the side of the road.

In case you don't know what it is:

Critical Thinker (Math I only)...

Congrats to:  David, Alex, and Ben

In Class Today....

Science:
Took notes on the 3 laws of motion, and then played with those very laws!!

Writing:
Worked on Wordstudy Packets and the Informational Planning Guide for our upcoming paper.

Math I:
Reviewed for tomorrows quiz.

Math II:
Worked on yesterday's Resiliency question and then did a worksheet and learned about the Fibonacci Sequence.

100-point Clue.......

Codeword:  Fib O. Notchee

Study this picture.  I have something in my room like it...look in there
